Supporting Your Body: Turmeric

I absolutely love turmeric! But more specifically, turmeric lattes!

Turmeric is a deep, golden orange spice. It is a relative of ginger and has several health benefits. Turmeric contains a natural compound (polyphenol) called curcumin, which has both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Turmeric is rich in phytonutrients that can protect the body by neutralizing free radicals (which comes from pollution, sunlight, etc.) and protecting your cells from damage. This can prevent conditions like cancer, heart disease, and inflammatory conditions like arthritis and joint disorders.

How I eat turmeric?

I enjoy turmeric lattes! Turmeric, which contains curcumin, combined with black pepper increases the bioavailability of curcumin. This means that black pepper IMPROVES absorption of curcumin in the digestive system!

In my turmeric lattes, I add:

  • 1 TBsp honey

  • A few shakes of black papper

  • 3/4 cup hot water

  • 1 tsp turmeric

  • 1/4 cup coconut milk or oat milk

I consume turmeric lattes about 2x/week. The other days, I enjoy

  • Hot water with fresh ginger slices

  • Coffee

  • Matcha lattes

I hope you try it!
