How to "get rid of my belly fat!"

When I ask my clients what their goals are, many of them say to loose weight or loose the belly fat.


Most of my clients who mention this are postpartum or peri-menopausal/menopause age.


Loosing weight is much more than what you eat and how much you exercise.


Actually...it is very complex!


Here are a few other areas to optimize to loose weight well!

  • How you eat

  • When you eat

  • The diversity of your diet (not quantity of vegetables, for example)

  • The TYPE of exercise (yes, there are multiple types of exercise, like cardio, strength training, restorative exercise)

  • Stress levels

  • Sleep quality

Did you know that your belly region contains 4x the amount of cortisol receptors than other areas of your body? Cortisol is your stress hormone. CHRONIC stress can increase your cortisol levels, resulting in more belly fat!


So, in addition to diet and exercise, it is important to manage your stress levels. This also ties in with your sleep quality. If you aren't sleeping well, you will likely be more "upregulated" or "stressed" because the body is not rested, calm and quiet. As a result, increased levels of stress are correlated with weight GAIN.
