Slowing Down to Unleash Your Creativity

December 12, 2025

Creativity arrives on its own.

It is spontaneous.

Slowing down unlocks the deepest desires your heart truly yearns for.  It is your intuition.  It is in the slowing down, the unhurried life, and unstructured time space that allows you to naturally move in this "flow" state.

You slowly become aware of thoughts, reflections and ideas that feel so "right."   It gives birth to what is really inside you.  To what you love.  The external and internal start to realign.  It is in the slowing down that allows you to foster these ideas in the most authentic and genuine way.  To nurture it at its own natural pace. To cultivate it.

Give yourself permission to lean into that.

Give that idea room.  Give it fertile ground.  Let it unfold into something marvelous and special.  These ideas not only give us life but can pour life into the people around us.  Becoming aware of these ideas make you more in tune with your inner self.  This is when I personally feel the most alive.  So whether it is starting your own business. Writing a book.  Volunteering.  Starting a book club.  Create a way for those nudges to unfold.

When we are trapped in a strict schedule, the need to “do,” a rigid to-do list—checking boxes just to check them—we suppress the unexpected.  We ignore our real, authentic selves.  We miss the best moments.  We miss the in-between.  The detours.  We lose the small opportunities to notice what is naturally emerging from our hearts and minds.

Allow your mind to wander.

I do not think we give ourselves enough time to simply be. To sit still. To be bored. To let our minds drift toward where they really want to go.

The most powerful thing you can do is to just be.  Schedule the rest. Create intentional pauses. Give yourself an unhurried space to enjoy.  To savour the fruits of your labor. To celebrate what your deep work has made possible.  Then, you can bring your full presence into that rest.

You realign with your inner self.

You return to your God-given uniqueness.

You allow yourself to dream.  To make those dreams a reality.

You recognize what your heart is truly yearning for.

And in that rest, it naturally brings forth your creativity.  What you love.

Do what you love.

As I write this, I am immediately reminded of conversations with friends.  We can embrace slow living in connection.  Let the conversation flow effortlessly. Appreciate the uncertainty.  Lean into the direction the conversation naturally flows.  Share those silences.  Give space for the internal quiet processing.  Do not take away that space for that internal diagloue or inner work to take place.  Savour the stillness. Appreciate the person for who they are.  Where they are in their journey of life, without an urgency to fix them.  Accept them as a work in progress. Just like we are.

Thank you so much for reading ❤️
